Zhalie Nienu sound is a blend of rock; jazz; blues, classical; flamenco; a free-flow fusion flowing down from the high mountain of exotic Nagaland to the urban exquisite San Francisco.
Music was a huge part of Zhalie's life growing up in Kohima. Colloborating with many struggling and aspiring musicians like himself in Kohima with limited resources and equipments in those days (1980 era) which he still cherishes. He was in a contemporary Christian band called Straight Ahead and as well as other occassional secular pursuits.
Then Zhalie moved to California in 1990 and joined a band called SeeD (www.cdbaby.com/cd/seed) in 1996-2006 a modern alternative rock christian band, an active ministry. Made an album with Seed first debut called "the seeing kind" produced by a grammy award winning producer Michael Rosen who produced the like of Santana, Journey, Joe Satriani, Rancid, Tesla, Testament, Eddy Money etc...
Definitely the 80's and 90's left a huge influences in his style of playing guitar but with time he is learning and exploring new styles of music such as contemporary jazz, new age (neo-classical as some calls it) and of course still keeping in touch with rock.
Zhalie loves guitar instrumentals electric and acoustics passionately. He likes to experiment without boundaries attached so having a small home studio helps, which he hopes to churn out a few tunes every now and then.
